Drop-In Solution Offers Cost-Effective Alternative to MEKO
Parsippany, NJ— AdvanSix (NYSE: ASIX) today announced the launch of EZ-Blox™ Anti-Skinning Agent, an innovative and customer-tested solution now available globally to optimize the performance of alkyd-based paints.
EZ-Blox™ is becoming more widely adopted in paints and coatings as a safe drop-in replacement to MEKO. Its use does not require costly reformulation or additional research and development by paint producers, and independent research shows it is safe, with low risk of exposure and an improved toxicology profile.
“At AdvanSix, our goal is to offer customers safe and simple solutions that help them create better products for the future,” said Paul Sanders, business director for the AdvanSix Chemical Intermediates business. “EZ-Blox™ fits that charter, as it represents an evolution of our anti-skinning agents and helps companies proactively address potential regulatory changes by upgrading their products as cost-effectively as possible.”
EZ-Blox™ is designed to prevent a surface skin from forming on the paint, improving performance while reducing waste. Professional painters can find value in its fast-drying qualities throughout all seasons and in all weather conditions.
EZ-Blox™ is especially useful for exterior applications, from fencing to homes and buildings exposed to the elements. While preventing skinning, it confers a high-gloss finish and ensures protection for wood and metal. Featuring a low VOC and high solids profile, EZ-Blox™ provides excellent barrier properties, reinforcing its value as the ideal anti-skinning component for exterior paints and coatings.
Alkyd paints currently represent more than 20 percent of the paints and coatings industry in the European Union, or more than $2.5 billion euros. AdvanSix representatives will attend the European Coatings show in Nuremberg, Germany (April 4-6) to discuss EZ-Blox™ and its benefits for paint manufacturers.
