Plant Economics: AdvanSix spends approximately $28 million per year for goods and services in the local community to support the operation of the Hopewell plant. In 2013, the Hopewell facility paid more than $11 million in local property and use taxes, as well as $69 million to its employees in salaries and benefits. In addition to AdvanSix’s own employees at Hopewell, the plant is responsible for nearly 700 additional jobs in the community. This includes AdvanSix’s Chesterfield, Va., plant, which processes caprolactam produced at Hopewell, as well as jobs that support the Hopewell plant related to security, engineering, construction and raw materials.
Plant Investments: In the past five years, AdvanSix has invested more than $170 million in its Hopewell plant, including projects that directly support health, safety and the environment. These investments have been reflected in our improved performance in these areas, and we continue to strive for excellence at all of our facilities.Recently, the plant began a $66 million environmental control project that will improve leak detection and emissions systems. This project will reduce NOx emissions from the site by roughly 80 percent annually. The project will continue through 2018. The installation of these new systems will modernize our pollution-control systems while continuing to allow us to meet current and future demand for products produced at Hopewell.
